UralChem complains about rising soda ash price to econ ministry

MOSCOW, Nov 12 (PRIME) -- Russian fertilizer producer UralChem has asked the Economic Development Ministry to discuss rising prices for soda ash, according to a letter to the minister, seen by PRIME on Monday.

The prices grew by 16.15% on the year to 15,826 rubles per tonne in October–December. Trade house Bashkhim is the monopoly supplier of soda ash.

“The price growth for soda ash significantly boosts the prime cost of production of chemicals, mineral fertilizers, glass, water treatment, which causes price growth, reduces competitiveness of Russian products on the global markets, bars Russian industry development,” UralChem said in the letter.
